Summary of Case

"On 27 July 2021, Ameer Abbas Minhas reporter of daily Chakwalian newspaper was threatened by locals at the behest of Secretary Union Council Mulhal Mughal Khadim Hussain. Journalist Ameer Abbas Minhas had published news against the accused on charges of forging identity cards and obtaining citizenship. The accused got enraged and entered the journalist's residential flat armed.

Chakwal City police have arrested a man accused of threatening to kill and kidnap a journalist Accused Dilbar alias Ghulam Muhammad son of Ghulam Rasool and Bakht Khan Son of Baz Muhammad alias Bakht Khan Son of Ghulam Haider got armed and threatened at the behest of Secretary Union Council Mulhal Mughal Khadim Hussain. Police arrested the accused Dilbar alias Ghulam Mohammad and obtained a three-day physical remand from the area magistrate's court. Secretary Khadim Hussain's interim bail application granted. Raids continue for arrest of accused Bakht Khan.

Ameer Abbas told PPF that he had published news in his newspaper Chakwalian against the accused on charges of forging identity cards and obtaining citizenship then Accused Dilbar alias Ghulam Muhammad son of Ghulam Rasool and Bakht Khan Son of Baz Muhammad alias Bakht Khan Son of Ghulam Haider got armed and threatened at the behest of Secretary Union Council Mulhal Mughal Khadim Hussain. All accused are Afghani. Police arrested the accused Dilbar alias and “according to Journalist later DSP released accused after taking bribery”. Now Police will present Challan in court date is not decided.

Waqas Ur Rehman SI Chakwal City Police Station told PPF that accused Dilbar alias Ghulam Muhammad son of Ghulam Rasool and Bakht Khan Son of Baz Muhammad alias Bakht Khan Son of Ghulam Haider in on bail and the case is on Chakwal court.

Babar Saleem President Chakwal Press Club told PPF that this incident was related to Ameer Abbas's journalistic work but police didn’t corporate with Ameer Abbas.
