Students Union official apologize for their workers mistake and no any FIR lodge in this regards.
Summary of Case
On 6 Dec, 2021 violent students manhandled Atif Pervez, Joint Secretary PUJ, associated with Dunya News and another female reporter Ummay Farwa from Geo News, both reporters were covering a clash between student groups at Punjab University.
Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) has condemned the mishandling of reporters. In a statement, President Shehzad Hussain Butt and General Secretary Muhammad Shahid Chaudhry urged the authorities to take strict action against so-called students and arrest the culprits.
On 8th January 2022, Atif Pervaiz told PPF that while he covered the clash between the students union in Lahore University some students misbehaved and attack him and Geo journalist Ummay Farwah after the protest from Punjab Union. The student organization head came and apologize for their worker's behavior and ensure us that they will take action against the workers who were involved in this incident. FIR was not registered in this incident and Atif Pervaiz denied sharing details.
On 10th January 2022, Ummay Farwah told PPF the Journalist union apologize for their mistake and she didn’t file an FIR.
On 10th January 2022, general secretary of Punjab Union of Journalist, Muhammad Shahid Chaudhry told PPF that they urged the authorities to take strict action against so-called students and arrest the culprits. Later that day Leader of the Students organization apologized for their behavior and Atif Pervez accepted their apology.
