Summary of Case

"On 23 Jan, 2021 Armed men detained reporter Malik Ehtisham and cameraman Munawar Abbasi of Qaumi Lalkar daily while transporting the newspaper copies in Maloot area of Bani Gala residential district .

A First Information Report read that the newspaper carried special edition on Park View Housing Society and Islamabad Model Project. The armed men also snatched camera and hurled life threats during the detention of the journalist. Local police investigating detention of the journalists.

On 15-Apr-21 Head Moharrar Bani Gala police station Mr. Qaiser told PPF that no one has been arrested till date the case is in under investigation.

On 23 Apr, 2021 Editor of Qoumi Lalkar Mr. Faisal Nadeem told PPF that His reporter and Cameraman was on the way to distribute newspapers. The Newspapers of that day had news regarding park view housing society owned by Mr. Aleem Khan of ruling party Pakistan Tereek-i-Insaf (PTI). Some people detained them for 2 hours till Mr. Faisal with Police reached the point of incident. According to Mr. Faisal the FIR was registered in Bani Gala Police Station while still no one was arrested.

According police report submitted in Islamabad High court accused Malik Tahir , Mirza Naveed ,Sabeel Ahmed and Imran Khan received pre-arrest bail on 30-July-21 and they are still on bail. "
