Summary of Case
"The staff of PIMS hospital manhandled Muhammad Anwar Abbasi and Naveed Satti on March 10, 2023. Anwar and Satti are currently affiliated with 7 News, Islamabad. Anwar and Satti are the Anchors of the show “Top Story”. Muhammad Anwar Abbasi told PPF that the team of Top Story was working on a strict operation of installation of used insulators in the hospital. “Upon getting the source of the waste materials, we investigated the matter, and for the investigation, we installed hidden cameras in the hospital for confirmation. After the confirmation, we decided to do a show at the hospital. We have contacted the administration of the hospital, and we also contacted ADP hospital Naeem Malik, and they decided to do an inquiry against the mafia,” Abbasi added. “After finishing the recording, one of the mafia members broke the cameras and tried to manhandle the team,” Abbasi told. After the incident, we registered the complaint at “Karachi Company” police station, and after the complaint police did not register the FIR; however, the team of & news tried to contact SSP Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, and he also instructed the police to register the FIR however the FIR was not registered yet. Muhammad Naveed Satti, co-anchor of the show, told PPF that one of the members was caught on camera manhandling the journalists; hospital administration suspended the journalists whilst other members apologised. Amir Rao, director of News 7 News, told PPF that the team of Top Story went to conduct the interview of ADP, hospital Naeem Malik and when they reached, the persons involved in the sales attacked the team. Abid Abbasi, president of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists, has strongly condemned the attack on journalists, and also RIUJ urges the authorities to take action against the mafia. "
