Summary of Case
"On 30 Oct, 2021 journalist Naseebullah, locally known as Naseeb yar, reporter of daily Nawai Pakistan received death threats from traffic warden Syed Noorshah in Buner, KPK.
On Nov 1st, 2021 Naseeb yar told PPF that taraffic warder Noorshah threatened me after publishing of my report in Newspaper regarding traffic problems in the area. Naseeb tried to register an FIR against Noorshah, for this he contacted Sawari police Station of Buner but SHO Altaf denied to register any FIR and said we will investigate the matter. On Nov 2nd, the matter between both of them were resolved in a Jirga, the members of Jirga were President Awami National Party Buner Sher zaman Khan, President Jamat e Islami Buner Bahar ul Uloom, President Sawari Market Fazal Rabbi, president Press Club.
Zahir Shah Sherazi, Chief Editor of Daily Nawa-i-Pakistan told PPF that Naseeb yar published news about traffic problems in Buner around one month ago, for this He received verbal threats from wardan Syed Noorshah on Oct 30. He informed Nawa-i-Pakistan about threats same day. We published news about threats in Nawa-i-Pakistan in Sunday edition and now matter has been resolved in Jirga which was held on Nov 2nd.
President Buner Press Club Mahib ul Haq condemn the incident and told PPF that the matter has been resolved in Jirga.
Voice of Pashto Buner condemn this threats and demand DPO Buner and senior officers of police to take immediate action.
The decision of the Jirga was again an attack on freedom of expression as Jirga restrict Naseeb to post anything regarding traffic related problems."
