Summary of Case

"On August 4, 2022 senior photojournalist Faisal Khan was covering the protest of the teachers when the Punjab police baton charged him. On August 5, 2022 Journalist Faisal khan told PPF that on August 4, 2022 Faisal went to cover story on teacher’s protest when he reached to the area police came and started violence and baton charge on teachers and on the journalist in order to stop the protest in result of the violence he got minor injuries but remain saved. He further added that he was on duty and his editor chief assigned him the assignment for covering teacher’s protest after this incident he went to the city station for police complaint but police did not lodge FIR or complaint. But later in night city police contacted him and called him to police station and told him that the police who did baton charge on him is now suspended and they will make sure in future to avoid such incidents to happen again. On August 5, 2022 President of Islamabad press club Anwar Raza told PPF that Islamabad press club condemned this act of police this is against freedom of journalism and Islamabad press club is in support of Faisal Khan. We tried to call chief editor he was busy and cannot talk."
