Summary of Case

"On May 22, 2023, the head office of Bol News in Karachi was subjected to a raid by police officials. As per Siddiq Jan, the bureau chief of Bol News Islamabad, a raid was conducted by police officials on the head office on May 22, 2023, resulting in harassment of the staff. This incident is not the first of its kind, as it marks the second raid and harassment episode. ""When the staff went live and we displayed the situation on camera, the officials hastily left the office,"" Jan added. According to Muhammad Kafeel, the correspondent of Bol News Karachi, the police officials conducted a raid on the bureau without presenting any notice or search warrants. This incident marks the second time the police have raided and caused distress to the staff of Bol News. Immediate measures should be taken to put an end to this harassment. Speaking to PPF, Mudassir Ghafoor, executive member of the Karachi Union of Journalists said police raided the house of Shoaib Sheikh first and then they raided the Bol News head office in Karachi the reason behind the raid is not clear yet it can be due to the matter of exact however harassing the staff like this is a highly condemnable act. Additionally, he said that police raided the house of Shoaib Sheikh and then Bol’s news office to arrest the involved persons in the case of exact. Shoaib Sheikh’s wife Ayesha Shoaib Sheikh has also been arrested by police officials, Bol news has not taken any legal notice of this case. Saeed Sarbazi, in a statement to the PPF, the president of the Karachi Press Club expressed that the raid conducted by the police on Bol News's head office at around 2:30 AM on May 22 was a clear violation of the law. As the president of the Karachi Press Club, he strongly denounced the raid."
