Summary of Case

"On 23 Oct, 2021 reporter of Dawn news channel, Tahir Naseer received threatening calls after his coverage of a scam in Islamabad. He named three persons in his tweet who were “backing” those who hurled threats at him. A case has been registered by police made no arrests yet.

On Nov 11th Tahir Naseer told PPF that he covered news about corruption in B4U Company by B4U chairman Saif-ur-Rehman and then he was arrested in the fraud case. Tahir posted this news on his Twitter account. Tahir received a threatening call regarding this. He named three persons in his tweet who was “backing” those who hurled threats at him.

“These men are demanding to stop follow-up of the scam”, Tahir added.

Tahir Naseer told PPF that he did not submit any application for FIR because of his work burden.

Shakeel Anjum, president Islamabad press club told PPF that he doesn’t know about this incident of Journalist Tahir Naseer.
