Summary of Case

"GTV reporter Tanzeela Mazhar was facing digital harassment by the PTI leaders. Rawalpindi Islamabad union of journalists has strongly condemned the campaign against the female reporter. Tanzeela Mazhar, GTV reporter told PPF that a week ago she tweeted an information that TTP was involved in the clashes happened in Zaman Park in Lahore, after which two prominent personalities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has threatened her and asked her to delete her tweet. “I have not registered any application in cybercrime wing due to the trust issues I have no trust or faith in cybercrime wing, Hassan Niazi who is now arrested he and Arsalan Khalid have threatened me on phone call and ordered to delete the tweet” Mazhar added. Abid Abbasi, president of Rawalpindi Islamabad union of journalists told PPF that RIUJ has strongly condemned the campaign against the female reporter Tanzeela Hashmi. “It is becoming normal in Pakistan to troll female/women journalist, in order to stop this we have to condemn such digital attacks and harassment” Abbasi told. Speaking to PPF Abid Abbasi urges authorities to take steps against such issues. Union is standing beside these female journalists, Abid said. Tariq Ali Virk, general secretary of Rawalpindi Islamabad union journalists told PPF that Tanzeela tweeted an information about the TTP involvement in zaman Park, after which PTI leader Hassaan Niazi threatened her which is highly condemnable act."
