Summary of Case
"On August 24, 2022 Aaj News Cameraman Muhammad Ali told PPF that on Sunday August 21, 2022 he went on coverage after PTI jalsa in Bani Gala the team of Aaj News went to Bani Gala out ide the residence of Former Prime Minister for coverage of his arrest warrant issued by IG Islamabad on arrival PTI workers started violence and said “Your media channel did not air any footage why you came here and pushed the whole team of aaj and Geo News and asked us to leave”. No FIR was filed because he said this is not the first time we have faced this situation but couple of times by PTI workers they stopped us, beat us and they tore our clothes for just covering and making footage. On August 24, 2022 Aaj News crime reporter Rana Usman told PPF that on August 21, 2022 Aaj News team went to Bani Gala for the coverage of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest warrant that was given by Inspector General Islamabad, the team of Aaj News went to cover the event where all the workers and followers of PTI was already presented. Rana said, Muhammad ali is cameraman of Aaj News so firstly he got off from the van and step forward to cover he did not take his camera along instead of camera he took his mobile phone to cover the sots and footages, when he step forward and asked people to took a side and let him cover suddenly PTI workers came and they started violence specifically on Geo’s DSNG and on Aaj News DSNG and Muhammad Ali was also came under the attack He also said “this is not the first time PTI workers did violence on us many times on different coverages they stopped us from coverage and only allowed selected TV channels to cover which is biased and unfair”."
