These remarks sparked a wave of abusive comments directed against him. Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has expressed deep concern over an organized campaign of character assassination and threats directed at senior journalists Meher B0khari of ARY News and Amir Mateen of 92 News by elements allegedly associated with the PML-N on social media and demanding immediate action from the leadership of the party. On 11 February 2024, Amir Mateen, host of 92 News, tweeted a picture of Wasim Qadir (PTI Independent Candidate), who won the elections. After that, he joined the PML-N. Amir Mateen posted a picture with a caption that: جھوٹا حلف اٹھاتے وسیم قادر پر تو لعنت ہے ہی۔ مگر مریم نواز کی پارلیمانی سیاست کی ابتدا اس گھٹیا حرکت سے نہی ہونی چاہیے تھی۔ اس کیچڑ کو ساتھ کھڑا کر کے فخریہ تصویر اترونا شرمناک ہے۔ آئندہ وہ چیخ چیخ کر ووٹ کو عزت جیسے کسی دعوے کا پرچار کیسے کریں گیں۔ یہ ٹرافی نہی بلکہ شرم کا مقام ہے۔ جو ابتدا کیچڑ سے ہو اس کا انجام ہمیں پتا ہے۔ سنبھال کر رکھنا یہ تصویر۔ After that tweet, PML-N supporters got angry and they shared the previous picture when Wasim Qadir left the PML-N and joined PTI in 2018. People started abusing him with different names, calling him bad words and asking him to prove what it was why you didn’t tweet that time when he left the PML-N and joined PTI."
