Summary of Case

On July 09, Haseeb Ali from BOLNews, was hassled and intervened in reporting by the security guard of former National Assembly member and member of Pakistan People's Party in Banking Court Karachi when they were covering the Faryal Talpur's case hearing. Speaking to PPF, a reporter from Suno News, Ayaz Brohi, said that on July 9, at 9 am, he and some other reporters from different TV channels went to the Banking Court in Karachi to cover the Faryal Talpur’s case hearing. He said that Talpur was witnessed in the court without any security protocol; however, when he entered the courtroom, some men calling themselves the guards of Talpur obstructed TV reporters from reporting and intervened in their professional work. Brohi said there was no security from the court nor any order from the judge to halt reporting in the case. Therefore, the reporters argued for their right to peaceful work. He said the so-called security locked the courtroom door and assumed the place. Brohi further stated that when Talpur, after hearing of the case, came outside the courtroom, he shouted over her, said that her guards were intervening in media work, and asked her to say some words about the mistreatment. He said that Talpur ignored his words. Brohi stated that the reporters applied before the registrar of the Sindh High Court, Suhail Lashari, and appealed to take notice of the matter. However, no response has yet been received. "
