Summary of Case
On 23 Feb, 2021 reporters of Kooh-e-Noor TV Muhammad Faisal Mirza and Malik Junaid has been threatened by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf social media activist Zakia Safdar Abbasi.
On Apr 27, 21 Muhammad Faisal Mirza and Malik Junaid told PPF that they did a story on complaint of Ms. Zakia that a family kidnapped a maid, they grabbed her, not releasing her nor giving her the salary. Muhammad Faisal Mirza and Malik Junaid on aired story regarding the incident.
Later on when Muhammad Faisal Mirza and Malik Junaid did investigation on it so they came to know that the girl was living there by her own. She was not forced to lived there as a maid and worked for a family, basically Ms. Zakia wanted to harass the family so the both reporters on aired another story against Ms. Zakia and she than started calling to them that she will not leave them both as they filed story against her.
The both journalists filed application on Khanna Police Station, no threats they had after that incident and as well as no legal proceedings had been done no one follow-up the case.
On Apr 27, 21 Head Mohrar Mr. Mubashir told PPF that they just filed application no legal proceedings had been done.
On Apr 27, 21 Regional Head of Kooh e Noor Mr. Iftekhar Bhatti told PPF that they did a story regarding the girl abduction so they got threats from Ms. Zakia as she was spreading the false news everywhere so we aired story with her name. When she called me and gave me threats as well so I suggested both the journalist to file an application for their safety.
On Apr 27, 21 president of National Press Club Mr. Shakeel told PPF that I don’t know regarding the incident.
On 24th Jan, 2022, Muhammad Faisal told PPF Zakia Safdar Abbasi came National Press Club and President of National Press Club Shakeel Anjum invited Muhammad Faisal and suggested settling the matter with communication then we solved the matter with verbal communication. No FIR was submitted in this regard.
