Summary of Case

"On April 27, police entered the Dera Ghazi Khan Press Club. Bilal Habib, a former fellow of PPF, reported that the police, authority, entered the press club and forcefully interrupted the press conference of PTI leaders . Malik Siraj Ahmed, a correspondent from Dera Ghazi Khan, told PPF that police stopped the PTI representatives from the press conference and the police force was also present at a nearby chowk so that PTI workers would not do any protest. Punjab Union of Journalists President Zahid Rafiq Bhatti told PPF that this was a clear attempt to suppress the voice of PTI workers in press conferences, a move that he strongly condemned. The News Rajanpur reporter Sher Ali told PPF that the police stopped the PTI workers from the press conference as they were not allowed to enter in premises of the press club. He further shared that we asked them to go outside the press club if they had any concerns or if they had arrest warrants for the workers they could arrest them outside the press club. PUJ Senior Vice President Zaher Shehzad, Vice President Hasnain Ikhlaq, General Secretary Hasnain Tirmizi ,joint secretaries Parvez Altaf and Mudassir Khan and Finance Secretary Khawar Baig and other members have condemned the incident and urged authorities to take action . Regional Union of Journalists Pakistan (RUJ) General Secretary Abid Mughal strongly condemned the incident and said that due to some law enforcement institutions, we face embracement in whole over the world, he urged the IG Punjab and Chief Minister Punjab to take immediate action against the police personnel who entered the press club."
