Summary of Case

"Around 10 journalists were attacked by the organizers of Aurat march including a female journalist during the coverage in Islamabad, Pakistan. Sabeen Shehbaz, correspondent of GNN news told PPF that yesterday she went to cover the Aurat march and the press conference of Sherry Rehman, former diplomat of Pakistan when some workers of Aurat March stopped her and some other journalists from the coverage. “They not only stopped us from the coverage they even attacked us resulting in injuries and soon we will register the FIR” Shehbaz added. Tarik Ali Virk, general secretary of Rawalpindi/Islamabad union of journalists told PPF that the case of journalists who got attacked during the coverage of Aurat March is related to journalism as the journalists were there to cover the event and soon the FIR will be registered by the journalists and the union. Muhammad Nadeem, correspondent of Ausaf Broadcasting Network told PPF that a female journalist was injured including the ten other journalists during the coverage of the Aurat March. “The journalists were attacked named, Sabeen Shehbaz from GNN news, Waqas Mehmood from 92 News, Sunny Ali from daily Toofan, Ahsan Butt from Dunya news, Muhammad Danish of Aaj News and Zahid Iqbal from KNN news” Nadeem added.
