Summary of Case
"On June 14th, 2022, Journalist Yasir Hussain told PPF that he was attacked by PTI workers on June 12 in Chechawatni district because he mentioned PTI workers' Hooliganism activities during Azadi March. He said after my news 10 workers of PTI who belongs to his village brutally beat him with iron sticks on the premises of Chechawatni Police Station. He recognize 7 of them and he mentioned those 7 names in FIR along with 3 unidentified workers no one arrested till date. When the Culprits get to know that Yasir have filed FIR against them they came to Yasir’s home and threaten the family of Yasir that if FIR will not take back then they will kill Yasir. Public News, Chechawatni Press Club, and other Journalist Unions stand with him. DPO Sahiwal assures journalists to take action against the culprits Yasir added. On June 14th, 2022, Haji Ghulam Murtaza President Chechawatni Press Club told PPF that Yasir has beaten because of his coverage of Azadi March. Police filed a complaint against the culprits and DPO Sahiwal Muhammad Atif Ikram assured journalists to arrest those who were involved in this act. On June 14th, 2022, Bilal Murtaza FC Police Station Chechawatni told PPF that Police registered FIR on the complaint of Yasir Hussain against 10 people M Rafique, Naveed ul Hasan, Ali, M Shareef, Abrar, Shan Ali, M Asad and 3 unidentified against section PR 341/379/148 and 149. No one arrested till date. On June 14th, 2022, Abdul Razzaq Senior reporter for Public News Sahiwal told PPF that Yasir Mughal covered Azadi March but we’re not sure that this incident was related to his work or his work because Yasir Mughal is also a businessman in Chechawatni. But we condemn any type of violence. On June 14th, 2022 Regional Union of Journalist Secretary-General told PPF that Journalist Yasir Mughal is a local correspondent of Public News in Chechwatni. He was brutally beaten by Pakistan Tehreek I Insaaf workers on June 12, 2022 PTI workers blamed Yasir Mughal that he is behind the arrests of PTI workers in Chechawatni."
