Summary of Case
On 24 May, 2021 reporter of ARY News Afzal Pervez, DSNG operator Umar, Cameraman Nadeem and driver Mujeeb was badly assaulted by employees of restaurant while the team was there to cover the violation of SOPs by hotel.
Reporter Afzal Pervez told PPF that we all were at the hotel to cover the violation of SOPs of COVID-19 because people were sitting inside the hotel and eating food. When we started making video of the violating, the hotel’s employees started beating me and my team. They badly assaulted me and broke my camera and mike. We ran from there and reached to a safe destination and called the police to take an action against it. The police reached after some time and arrested the employees of the organization. The hotel’s owner reached at Karli Police Station where they presented apology letter as well as committed to fulfill the loss like they will give us the camera and mike which was broke by the employees of the organization. FIR didn’t filed regarding the incident because we accepted the apology letter and matter was resolved between us.
