OUR MISSION

A database documenting threats to journalists, populated by a group of trained representatives of journalist bodies. The data being recorded will be coming through known contacts, allowing researchers to reach out for verification of cases.

ABOUT US

The aim of  Pakistan Impunity Watch is to document verified information relating to threats and attacks on media personnel and institutions in Pakistan.  The database will aim to. track progress in legal proceedings, provides a picture of the press freedom situation in Pakistan over the years and provides a resource for researchers looking into cases of attacks against the media.

In a country where those who perpetrate attacks on the media overwhelmingly enjoy impunity, this website aims to contribute to understanding the nature of attacks on journalists, tracking progress, holding culprits accountable and ensuring researchers and other stakeholders have access to verified information.

Pakistan Impunity Watch has been created and maintained by the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), an independent media documentation and training center. PPF is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting and defending freedom of expression.

PPF was established in 1967 as a non-profit organization and has been assisting the empowerment of independent media in Pakistan by conducting training programs for journalists, carrying out projects in research and documentation and campaigning to defend and promote freedom of the press.
