Case Update Status

Application was submitted in Model town Police station Lahore but as both parties were not presented for the further investigation of the case, the case has been closed by Police.

Summary of Case

"On 5 Jan, 2020 senior journalist and anchorperson, Mubashir Lucman who was associated with Samaa News was tortured by then Federal Minister of Information Mr. Fawad Chaudhry. Mubashir and Fawad was in a reception ceremony of then Punjab’s Irrigation Minister Mohsin Laghari's son.

The physical altercation was apparently over a video that Lucman uploaded on his YouTube channel in which he and anchorperson Rai Saqib discussed TikTok stars Hareem Shah and Sandal Khattak, and videos allegedly involving Chaudhry and Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan. The show claimed that the two girls had several videos of Mr. Fawad and could release them any time.

Mubashir Lucman submitted an application in Model Town Police Station Lahore for inquiry against Mr. Fawad. Lucman said he was talking to his friends when Chaudhry attacked him along with 10-12 of his private guards. ""They subjected me to severe violence,"" he said, adding that after threatening him of serious consequences and of murder, they left the site of the incident.

Mubashir Lucman claimed that prior to this incident, the federal minister had called and threatened to have him killed if he did not stop his allegations.

In response Fawad Chaudhry said: “I am a minister but that doesn't mean everyone can tarnished my respect like this and I will not react. Of course. It was my right to react. Everyone has a tolerance level.” He said that he had complained to the prime minister's aid on accountability, Shahzad Akbar, about Lucman's show and had also called the director general of Federal Investigation Agency's cyber wing, but did not get the desired response.

He is a Minister and a powerful man so this is the basic reason behind no investigation is going on. He did it before with Anchor Sami Ibrahim. Government and Police Officials should take a serious action regarding it.

SI Karama Tavi of Model Town Police Station told PPF that application was submitted for inquiry but when we called Mubashir and Fawad for further proceedings so one came. Hence FIR was not registered."
