Summary of Case
"On June 21 2022, Sajjad Sheikh, who is a reporter for 92 News, was stopped from covering news related to the public’s opinion on sudden petrol prices hikes upon entering the Metro Bus station by the Metro Station staff. On June 23rd, 2022, Sajjad Sheikh told PPF that he went to cover news at the Metro Bus station for taking public reviews regarding public transport service and hike of petrol prices and upon entering the bus, the staff of Metro Bus station prevented him from entering in Metro Bus Station from performing his job. He has submitted an application against Metro Station staff in Cant Police Station Rawalpindi. Sohail Bhatti, Bureau Chief of 92 News in Islamabad, told PPF that Sajjad Sheikh was on allocated coverage from 92 News. The Metro Bus staff misbehaved with the journalist and intercepted him from making footage. He filled the complaint in hopes that the police would cooperate with the journalist and the harassment he faced. The president of National Press Club, Anwar Raza, did not receive PPF’s calls for further investigation."
