Summary of Case

"Karachi-based senior journalist Shoaib Jatt, working as sports journalist and associated with ARY News channel as anchor and special correspondent, was threatened several times on social media due to his report regarding the poor captaincy of Pakistan cricket team on 13 July2023. Lot of people responded to his online story and the journalist also received life threats for his report. The journalist contacted FIA cyber-crime office in Karachi but so far, no action was taken on his complaint. On August 26, Speaking to PPF, Shoaib Jatt shared that likewise previous year he is facing online harassment and online trolling for sharing his critical analysis on National players and this time he is again under trolling for sharing his analysis on poor captaincy of Pakistan cricket team on July 13. “Since last year neither FIA nor cyber-crime has updated Jatt on the case, instead FIA wrote letter to their deputy director for the follow up on the case, FIA wrote letter on May 5, while Karachi Press Club and Karachi Union of Journalists had also wrote the letter to FIA cyber-crime to take strict action against these trolling, Press Club wrote letter to Additional Director South FIA on April 26 while Karachi Union of Journalists wrote letter to FIA on March 11, but they did not respond” Jatt added. PPF has tried to contact Karachi Press Club and Union as well, but they did not respond. "
