Summary of Case

"On 10 Sep, 2021 CIA Incharge Ali Hassan Mehar and his two personal guards tortured journalist Zain Sarki, associated with Sindh TV. Zain was making footage of suspicious activity in CIA office as a large number of people were gathered there.

On Sep 13, 2021 Mr. Zain Sadayu told PPF that He received an information from his sources that CIA raided a gambling den and arrested some people from there, He went there and felt that officials are releasing them. He started making footage from his mobile, the officials stopped him snatched his mobile. He introduced himself as journalist and showed his Media Card but then CIA incharge along with his two personal guards slapped him. He informed Jacobabad Press Club, Journalists from the city protested and demanded suspension of Ali Hassan. None of the police station registered FIR of the incident. Later on Mr. Ali Hassan on Sep 12 apologized and thus the matter is resolved. Zain said that He was not in direct pressure from anyone but everyone including senior journalists from the area and family asked him to resolve the matter verbally. Zain felt that Ali Hassan apologized due to pressure from higher authorities.

On Sep 13, 2021 Bureau chief of Sindh TV and Brother of Zain, Mr. Azhar Gul told PPF that Journalist went to City Police station for some personal work, the office of CIA and City Police are in same building. Zain noticed some suspicious activity there so He started making footage from his cellphone as it is a nature of every Electronic Media journalist. The CIA incharge tried to stop him, when he showed his ID Card Ali Hassan and his two guards slapped journalist. He then contacted SSP Jacobabad Mr. Shumail Riaz around 2:00 PM of Sep 10. No one from Police Station registered FIR. When no action were taken, journalists from the area protested against the unlawful act on Sep 11. After that on a same day accused Mr. Ali Hassan called him and asked to come in his office, Azhar asked about what happen, is there any case register against him, Ali Hassan denied. Azhar said that He did not visited CIA office. On Sep 11, 2021 Mr. Ali Hassan came to Press club in presence of all journalists apologized from Zain and matter is resolve now.

On Sep 13, 2021 President of Larkana Press Club Mr. Sarkash Sadayu told PPF that Zain was making footage from his Mobile inside the CIA office when the incident happened.

On Sep 13, 2021 President of Jacobabad Press Club Mr. Babu Haider Munshi told PPF that CIA Incharge Ali Hassan tried to stop Zain for making footage of some suspicious activities. He strongly condemn the act. Jacobabad Press club protested and sit-ins against the incident of police violence on Sep 11. Sunday, Sep 12 the CIA Incharge came to Press Club and apologized for his behavior thus the matter is resolved now. "
