Summary of Case

"On 30 Aug, 2021 Police official of Special branch misbehaved with reporter of Geo News Tariq Hassan and reporter of BBC Muhammad Nabeel outside the Governor House in Karachi. Journalists were covering the Protest for Missing persons there.

On Sep 6, 2021 Mr. Tariq Hassan told PPF that He was covering the protest for Missing Persons, due to the traffic jam some bike riders tried to cross the bearers, an on duty police official misbehaved with a bike rider. A reporter from BBC tried to make the footage so that police officials started misbehaving with him then Tariq make on his camera of Cell phone to make the footage so they snatch his mobile phone. According to Tariq some of them are in Uniforms while others are in civil clothes. They then returned the Cell Phone to Tariq after 2 hours.

On Sep 6, 2021 Mr. Nabeel told PPF that it was not a serious matter, just a misunderstanding. No FIR was register.

On Sep 6, 2021 Bureau Chief of Geo News Mr. Faheem Siddiqui told PPF that a police official of Special branch misbehaved with journalists, He contacted DIG and then DIG suspended the responsible one.
