Summary of Case
"On May 18, GTV Karachi Reporter Zamzam Saeed was detained while covering cheating at a school in the city's Korangi area. Saeed went for coverage to a school located in Korangi crossing, named Al Shinaz Academy, over the complaints of cheating in matriculation examinations. She told PPF that when she went there, she saw that students were openly cheating and center superintendent was solving the paper of students by himself and some other copies of special children were present in his room. When she she questioned him about what was going on he replied to lock the doors and call the police. Saeed said she asked him why they were being detained, he said that ""yes, it’s not the way."" She said they were misbehaved with and beaten as well. They (Saeed and her cameraman) were forcefully thrown out of the center. Saeed said that the police were outside the examination hall, but they didn’t do anything. She lodged an FIR against the superintendent in Thana Zaman Town, and he had subsequently been arrested. He had allegedly received bail after giving a bribe of Rs20,000. The was registered as FIR no 509/2024 registered under section 354/506/337A.I/34 in Thana Zaman Town. GTV Desk Editor Zaigham Abbas told PPF that Saeed went for the coverage of examinations where she saw that students are sitting so close and doing cheating openly where the center superintendent was also present. Zaigham told PPF that the superintendent started pushing her, and forcefully, they made her go outside. Zaigham said that the police were present there, but they didn’t do anything, and three persons were arrested, who then got bail after a bribe. --- Report suggested that A female journalist was allegedly tortured by a group of people involved in facilitating cheating at examination centers amid ongoing matric exams. A video of the incident went viral on social media in which the group of people can be seen beating up the female journalist at a school in Korangi. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ali Malkani sought reports from concerned officials. The Home Minister directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Hassan Sardar Khan to submit a report on the incident at the earliest. Taking cognizance of the viral video, the police took action on the viral video and arrested three suspects, including the school owner."
