Summary of Case
On 28 May, 2021 Haripur police allegedly manhandled reporter Abid Ali of Samaa TV channel on the pretext of filming a video of the police.
The police tortured the cameraman of a private TV channel at Khanpur Road of Haripur and snatched his camera as well.
The cameraman was filming a video of the police misconduct. The police took him to the police station forcefully and beat him up brutally.
On May 29, 21 Abdi Ali told PPF that he lived in Texila and were going to Choli area for making a story, on his way to Choli he saw policemen beating a man badly on Khanpur canal.
Abid went the spot and asked the policeman that why you are beating a young boy badly and started making video from his phone. He introduced policeman that he is a journalist and working for Samaa Tv.
Suddenly the policeman started beating Abid and took his phone and camera and took him to the police van.
Later, In Khapur Police Station Abid described all the story to Station house officer (SHO), SHO ordered to release him and apologized form Abid.
Later the DSP Mr. Ibrar suspended all three policeman who were involved in the incident.
President Haripur Union of Journalists Mr. Faisal told PPF that the journalist were going and they saw policemen were beating someone they started making a video and the policemen started beating the journalist and team. DSP suspended the policeman. We strongly condemn the incident.

Bureau Chief of Samaaa Tv Islamabad told PPF that the incident was happened on Khanpur Canal when policeman were beating a young boy and our team started making a video. Later DSP suspended all three policemen.
