Summary of Case

"On 28 Aug, 2021 a freelance journalist from Takhtbhai, Mr. Amjad Khan who runs his own YouTube Channel “Pakhtoon News ""and Facebook Page “Takhtbhai News” received threatening voice note on WhatsApp from Mr. Sajjad of Counter Terrorism Department KPK. Journalist uploaded a video of Police torturing local shopkeepers on “Takhtbhai News”, a page on Facebook on a same day.

Amjad told PPF that he watch a video of Police official torturing local shopkeepers circulating on his friends circle. Amjad posted a video on his Facebook Page named “Takhtbhai News” on Aug 28. He received a voice message on his WhatsApp threatening to remove the video or He will face consequences. According to journalists the message was from Mr. Sajjad, official of Counter Terrorism Department KPK. Amjad launch his complain by using “Online Complain portal KPK” but no one called him till date.

*According to journalist He works for Frontier star Chief Editor of Frontier star Mr. Sanaullah told PPF that Amjad is not a member of his newspaper however He sometimes send Articles like many other citizens.

President of Takhtbhai press Club Mr. Hayatullah told PPF that the matter is not as big as Amjad is showing it. They will try to resolve the matter by Jirga.

The accused Mr. Sajjad told PPF that He did not threat Amjad. He will soon submit an application of Defamation in court.

On Sep 6, 2021 DPO Office representative asked to contact Complain office KPK.

On Sep 6, 2021 KPK Complain office representative told PPF that please ask complainant to call SDPO City Mardan.

*PPF provided contact number to Amjad asked him to contact SDPO KPK, According to journalist they said that they will update him later.

President of Mardan Press club Mr. Nasrullah told PPF that Amjad uploaded a video on his Facebook page, later on a police official threatened him. Amjad has no personal conflicts with the accused. He condemn the incident and said that the matter is purely related to his journalist work. Amjad is not associated with any media outlet, He works as a Freelancer.
