Summary of Case

"On March 11, 2022 anchorperson of Such TV, Batool Rajpot was harassed and detained by Kanwal Shauzab, member of the National Assembly (MNA) of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

“I was conducting an arranged Interview with Kanwal Shauzab when she got hyper over a question regarding harassment of anchorpersons by official accounts of PTI, Kanwal Shauzab asked team Such TV to not on air the recorded program and alleged that the interview is planted and following an agenda” Kanwal told PPF.

The heated debate between them continued for half an hour then the other team members were managed to escape however, Kanwal detained Batool. Later after the social media posts by senior journalists and media coverage by Such TV, Kanwal talked to the management of TV station and released anchorperson, Batool Rajput added.

No application or FIR has been registered of the incident.

Mohsin Raza, director news of Such TV strongly condemned the harassment act and told PPF that Batool is their anchor, they are with her. On March 14, 2022 at 8:00 PM that show was on aired on Such TV after which the channel has been off aired in various parts of Pakistan without any notice.

We contacted Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), they denied their involvement, Mohsin added.

Mohsin said that when they contact cable operators, they said that they received call from anonymous numbers asking to off air Such TV or they will face consequences.

We will approach High court if the same situation would continue, Mohsin told PPF.

Meanwhile Kanwal Shauzab shared a post on her twitter account that she has submitted the application in PEMRA for action against Such TV.

No official announcement by PEMRA has been made yet."
