Summary of Case

On July 25, Daily Uraan Bureau Chief Syed Zahid Ali Chishty was attacked by drugs mafia with a knife in Shabqadar town of Charsadda district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Speaking to PPF, Chishty said he was going for a walk in his town of Shabaqdar and a gang of drug dealers came and told him that he was posting about them on the media and started to beat him up. He said that one person attacked his nose with a sharp-edged knife in which his nose was injured. He received seven stitches. Chishty alleged that the attackers were famous thieves and drug dealers. He mentioned that, generally he carries a gun but wasn’t at the time. A First Information Report (FIR) [FIR No 308/7] was registered on July 25 at Thana Khwajrus, Charsadda, under Sections 324, 334 and 337 (A) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). As per FIR, Chishty said that he was at the place of the incident at Shabqadar when Afzal Ameen, Rooh ul Ameen, Zeeshan, and Aamir attacked him and started punching and kicking him. Rooh Ul Amin attacked his face with a sharp edge tool during the fight. He added that there were a lot of people who saw the incident.  Kamran Ali Shah, reporter of GNN News from Peshawar, told PPF that Syed Zahid Ali Chishty is a bureau chief. He was highlighting and reporting on the use and selling of ICE drugs in Shabqadar and for a long time. When he was going for a walk, the drug dealers attacked him and said he was complaining to the police about them.
