Additional assistant commissioner revenue Muhammd Ayub has filed a petition for taking action against journalist Farhat Shah, no action taken till date

Summary of Case

"On 28 Oct, 2021 Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Ayub has filed a petition for taking action against journalist Farhat Shah associated with Frontier star. Farhat recently in his news report pointed out that He (Muahmmad Ayub) was staying in Rashid Memorial Hospital (Tehsil Hospital) illegally. Ayub was misusing his powers.

He occupied one of the hospital's residential flat for the last two years. Hospital's residential area is only allowed for hospital's own staff as per rules and regulations. He was allotted this flat by previous administration of Hospital illegally.

Recently, when many doctors applied for the flat. Ayub was warned by Hospital staff time and again but all in vain.

Hospital Incharge wrote an application regarding the matter to Secretary of Health Department KPK. The copy of that application was received by journalist from sources. Journalist reported the news in his newspaper.

Petition contained an allegation of defamation and requesting for action against journalist Farhat shah, PPF read Petition.

Farhat Shah told PPF that the Additional Assistant Commissioner submitted a request to the District Police Officer (DPO) against him after his news report published in Frontier Post on Oct 9, that news reports states that Muhammad Ayub is staying illegally in Pubbi hospital and against whom the hospital staff had also requested the administration.

This is not a first incident, numerous Firs was registered against me previously because of my news reports and Court always declared me innocent but this must be stop, Farhat added.

But till date No FIR has been registered against journalist.

Ozair Narmani, Incharge correspondent on Frontier News strongly claimed the action of Assistant commissioner and demands free and fair enquiry. He termed the act as “Attack on Freedom of expression”.

Muahmmad shoukat, Head Moharrar Pubbi Police station told PPF that No FIR has been registered against journalist, Assistant Commissioner just submitted a request.

Nadeem Shah Tipu, President of Peshawar Electronic and Print media committee strongly condemn the attack on freedom of expression and demands the early decision of Nowshehra Press Club from court so the issues of Nowshehra based journalists can be resolve soon. He will protest if any action will be taken against Farhat.

General Secretary of Peshawar Press Club, Imran Bukhari told PPF that He don’t know about the incident, Nadeem shah can guide about matters of Nowshehra."
