Summary of Case
"On November 5, 2022, Farman Kareem, photojournalist of Bol News went to City hospital near Gilgit Press Club, Farman went to cover the fight between doctors and started making videos of doctor meanwhile one of person from the nursing staff came and snatch his phone and broke it off at the moment. FIR was not registered of this case due to police officials, Unions and press clubs members went to Airport police station to register the FIR and gave 24 hours ultimatum to register the FIR as soon as possible against the administration of hospital. On November 5, 2022 Khursheed Ahmed, president of Gilgit press club told PPF that Journalists were harassed by the nursing staff of the hospital for making a video of the fight in the hospital without their consent. Press club demanded fair investigations from the police officials if the FIR is not registered within 24 hours. The press club will call a protest against the officials. As the matter is purely related to journalism. Only Farman was there to cover the fight and no other journalist was there except for him. On November 5, 2022 President of Gilgit Union of Journalists Khalid Mustafa told PPF that the incident is related to journalism and FIR is not registered up till now. Hospital administration condemned the attack but did not announce any compensation for journalists. On November 5, 2022 Bureau Chief of Bol News Siddiq Jan told PPF that the matter is not in their knowledge and this matter is out of Islamabad."
