Summary of Case

"On 5 June, 2021 Police stopped journalists from covering search operation by law-enforcement personnel in Qazi Ahmed area in Nawabshah district in Sindh province.

The journalist community demanded action against cops for stopping them from carrying out professional work.

On Aug 6, 2021 President of Nawabshah Press Club Mr. Manzoor told PPF police were conducting an operation against ""Gutka Sellers"" in the Qazi Ahmed area of Nawabshah, Ghulam Haider went there for coverage but police reacted and tried to stop him for coverage as it was a usual practice of police that they always show less amount of illegal product recovered and also present arrest of only 2 to 3 drug dealers however police hide a huge amount of Drugs and also hide the master minds behind the activity by resolving issue privately with them. When Ghulam tried to make footage police official thought their activities will not remain hidden that is why they took action. Ghulam informed his journalist friends and press club, They all along with Nawabshah Press club protested their and matter has been resolved after the apology of Police official Zafar Zardari.

On Aug 6, 2021 Mr. Ghulam Haider told PPF that He was at the spot where the operation against ""Drug dealers"" were conducting by CI police for coverage along with his friend Inayat Buladi of Channel 5. Police stopped them from covering the protest also misbehaved with them. The matter was resolved without any FIR register but the responsible officer came at Press club and apologized in front of many journalist friends. "
