Summary of Case

"On 3 April, 2021 Freelance journalist Shahid Aslam was detained in office of Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) where he went to get opinion of Babar Hayat Tarar who was accused of wrongdoing when he was the secretary Cooperative Department.

Speaking to PPF Mr. Shahid Aslam said that He was detained in a Senior Board of Revenue office by Senior Member of SMBR Punjab Mr. Babar Hayat, Member Haider, their security guards and on duty police officials, where he went for the taking the point of view of Mr. Babar related to a story of wrongdoings of his brother when Babar was Secretary Cooperative of that department. The offcials took Laptop, Mobile and other documents from Aslam and warned him to never enter in a office again or Aslam will face serious consequences.

Aslam said local Police Station refused to register FIR and said contact CCPO. Aslam submitted Application ito CCPO Punjab. No action taken by CCPO.

President and other officials of Lahore Press Club condemned the incident.

Shahid later reported the same news on Bol TV and updated PPF that he did not receive any threats after the above mentioned incident. "
