Summary of Case

"ARY News Sports Anchor Shoaib Jatt faced online harassment on September 11 and had also faced the online doxxing from unknown social media accounts multiple times previously as well after criticizing the National cricket team’s poor performance for the ongoing Asia cup series on September 11, 2023. Since last year Jatt has been facing online harassment and life threats from the public after criticizing National cricket team players. On September 13, speaking to PPF, Shoaib Jatt shared that he is doing live streaming of the ongoing Asia Cup series for ARY News and his private channel as well. During the live coverage, Jatt criticized the National team players for not performing well. “This is not the first time, second time, third time and fourth time multiple times I have faced this backlash from the public after criticizing the performance of team players, I have filed multiple complaints to the Federal Investigative Agency since last year, but they have not responded to my complaints once, in previous month of July same year I have faced the life threats from some social media users they abused my family members and gave serious life threats to me” Jatt added. On September 12, Jatt shared a screenshot of a voice message he received on his Instagram account where the user Abdul Wahab abused Jatt and gave him a life threat for criticizing the National cricket team. ARY News Editor Majid Khan shared that this is not the first time Jatt has faced life threats. He is making these criticisms to gain attention, ARY News did not support Jatt in this regard, and even FIA is not responding to his complaints. Karachi Press Club General Secretary Shoaib Ahmed condemned the life threats which has been given to Jatt for his live streaming, Ahmed also shared that Karachi Press Club had written a letter to FIA in July 2023, after which a committee was formed and senior journalist Saqib Nazeer was leading the committee and appointed to investigate the matter but after that there is no update from the committee however Press Club condemned the threats which had given to Jatt recently and previously. PPF has also tried to contact the President of the Karachi Union of Journalists, Faheem Siddiqui but he said he is busy in a meeting he will call PPF later. "
