Summary of Case
"ARY News’s sports anchor Shaoib Jatt was harassed and threatened by the social media users, after his heated argument with the manager of a press conference for asking a critique questionfrom the captain of National cricket team Babar Azam. On January 4, 2023 Shoaib Jatt told PPF that he was in National stadium Karachi and no one was letting him ask the question to Babar Azam over which Shoaib told the manager to let him ask a single question. “After a lot of struggle I got a chance to ask a questio, and I asked him the question when will the fielding of the team improve, to which he did not answer me and the manager of the press conference misbehaved with me and my team. After this conference people bashed me on all my social media accounts”, Jatt added. “This was not the first time, I have faced this multiple times, once I faced the online harassment back in 2021 when I asked a question to Shadab Khan related to his issue with a random girl after which I had registered complain to cybercrime later which cybercrime informed my team that the accused accounts cannot be traced as it was fake” Jatt added. “This time I did not registered any complaint or FIR because this is becoming routine now” Jatt told On January 4, 2023 Faheem Siddiqui, General secretary of Karachi Union of Journalists told PPF that he was unaware of the incident of Shoaib Jatt.He also said that Shoaib did not inform the union about this incident. On January 4, 2023 Rizwan Bhatti, General Secretary of Karachi press club told PPF that the matter of Shoaib Jatt was related to journalism as the journalist was misbehaved by the manager of a press conference for asing a criticizing question. On January 4, 2023 Shams Shakeel, Bureau chief of ARY news told PPF that he was unaware of the incident and Shoaib did not share the incident with the organization."
